...oi. Figures.
Night before starting a new job. Early to bed. Pleasant endcap on the evening. What's the one thing I wind up being unable to do all night?
Helloooo, Insomnia. *facepalms* I remember when I used to harness you for the power of good. Well, crappy isolated microfic vignettes that never went anywhere. Half-arsed school assignments. Ah, that's right, you were a bit pants when we got right down to it, which is why I made friends with sleep and started putting those hours to a slightly more productive use. I'll grant I'm a bit more nocturnal than most, but really, I wake up no later than 7:30 most days because six months of Chinese class at 9:00 in the bloody morning have crippled my ability to sleep in. It is inconcievable that I was awake for fewer than seventeen hours yesterday, and unusually active ones compared to the absolutely murderous slow pace the last few days have carried. Surely, on such a night, you could've politely sodded off and let me have me seven-and-a-half without incident or regret?
Remorseless bloody bint. Now I have to call upon that other abstraction who is so lauded by those of a geekly persuasion (on the thoroughly misbegotten theory that overindulgence and self-sacrificing behavior are somehow endearing). That's right, Insomnia--it's your favorite old accomplice, Coffee.

Alas, that mischievous
Alas, that mischievous Insomnia, whose delight is to tweak the very noses of those most needing of rest afore the anticipated morrow. Still, least you got a drink out of it.
